PST

Well the day is almost here. This will probably be my last post until I get back From the west coast. I'm excited. It'll be my first trip to California, specifically San Francisco. I've got a coworker who is from the area and has been giving me the skinny about about it. Kelly's got her suitcase back that I'll be loading up. With everything, I'm about ready to go. Lord knows I need the break from work and all that. What a pain.

As Dom pointed out in his comment on the last post, he has loaned me his Browning bow. I'm hopefully going to do some hunting with it this season. With as little time as I have to prepare, I will consider it a very successful season if I can nab one deer. Dom was good enough to loan me the bow, being the mensch that he is. So anyway, hopefully the two of us can hunt and make a kill or two.

I've been pretty lax with pictures lately. So here's something I had going through my mind the other day:

Wrap It Up

It's been a week. I've got a few things to report on. Probably the biggest piece of info is I'm heading to California next weekend to visit the Will man. I'm flying out of Dulles on Friday to Oakland and I'll get back the following Monday. I'm pretty excited. It'll be good to hang out with the man for the weekend and see his new stomping ground. I know I said I'd come to Chicago and Blacksburg when I can, but I knew Will first so he goes to the top of list. Don't worry, those places are my next targets :).
The next big piece is Dom got his other bow back and has loaned it to me. We spent some time on Wednesday going over the fundamentals again and I shot a few times yesterday. I'm planning to look into getting my VA hunting license (which I need to hurry up and do) and probably my WV as well. I figure it'll be a successful season if I can bag myself one deer. I can hit a pie plate at 20 yards, and that's decent. I'll need more practice before going into the field, especially after I tune the bow. Dom said it's like an explosion going off in your hands when the bow is set to its proper draw weight.

Today I went to the range to spend some time practicing. Turns out, I can still shoot well enough that nobody should be breakin' in anytime soon. I got to talk to some other people while there and fire a couple .22 pistols. Fun to shoot and no kickback to speak of.

Nothing really new to report about work. Development is at a crawl. Of course, that's not really news.

Movie Night & Following

After another normal week at work, we decided to make a night of it on Friday. The grand (hardly) cinema in Martinsburg housed the four of us for quite a time in front of the big screen. We were mesmerized for nearly two hours as the Coen Brothers wowed us with another tale of ordinary people who fall into extraordinary circumstances. The audience cheered as the US government (FBI and CIA) were at a loss as to how to best handle an analyst who's barely clinging to his sanity. The cast works pretty well together to deliver a combination of slapstick, action, comedy, and a few surprises that shocked us.

Next came the weekend. I finally got around to mowing, which is good to get that done. I tried to go to the range on Saturday to practice but of course they close at 4 on Saturdays, which is about five minutes before I arrived. Sunday we got all our store errands done and then spent the rest of the day at home.

Today (Monday) is our day off so we slept in and watched some movies. Right now I'm in the middle of Fargo and I'm reliving the days of when I was in South Dakota. Of course, I didn't have to deal with Buscemi demanding that I bring him the money or he shoots my kids. So another thing we're working on today is thinking about Halloween costumes. Any ideas?

B Sides

Me, Kevin, and Monika messing with Kevin's iMac during training. As you can tell, we were nose to the grindstone.

Dom and I last summer at Maryland Heights.

Me demanding that we go throw frisbee at the beach this summer.

Will stuffin' his face at my graduation. That's right ladies, he's single!
Next to him is my dad, then Granny, then Will's dad Frankie.

These two were taken on my trip to Seattle, WA. This was when Microsoft flew me out there for a job interview. Obviously, I didn't get it. But hey, now I'm working for the Coast Guard. The trip was great and I got to see the city on Microsoft's tab. These were taken atop the infamous Space Needle.

Halloween 2007.

My Mind Is Getting Old Then

So this post has no pictures, mostly because I don't have any to post about last weekend. The biggest thing that got accomplished last weekend is Kelly and I bought a lock box, a cube organizer for the living room, and we stained our deck and stairs. The organizer only came in two colors: white and cedar. Since we didn't like either one, we decided to spray paint it. The deck was stained Sunday. Then Monday we did the spray painting and stained the back stairs. So finally once all that was done, we still had to put the thing together. I got the ol' power drill out and putting it together was simple.

Work was a four day affair. Nothing special there. I'm trying to get time off to visit Mr. C in CA, but I'm not sure if that's going to work out or not. We're putting a big project out mid-December, and we'll be knee deep during November. So we'll see how that goes.

Today Dom and I went to Sleepy Creek to work on sighting in his rifle and shooting some of his reloads. I wanted to practice my skills as well. Dom's reloads didn't explode, which was wonderful for both of us. Secondly, we got his rifle sighted in pretty well at 100 yrds. So it was a manly morning that began with coffee followed by some great shooting, then a ride back to Dom's in the Moose. The rest of the day has been mostly lazy. I dropped by the store to get that out of the way along with some Chinese. Once back, we ate and I cleaned my iron tool and I've been watching Kelly play the Wii. So as the evening draws to a close, I'll wrap this up as well.
